Gift Planning Specialist
Arena Stage
Maya Weil is a recognized leader in the philanthropic community as a specialist in planned giving. For 20 years, she has helmed planned giving for many arts organizations to raise millions of dollars. For 12 years, Maya was at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington National Opera, and the National Symphony Orchestra, and she is currently the Gift Planning Specialist at Arena Stage in Washington, DC.
Maya succeeds by leveraging her unique background and experience. After 14 years as an investment banker in London and Europe, she combined her deep financial expertise with her love of the arts. As a planned giving subject matter expert, she has committed herself to helping raise the knowledge and ability within the non-profit community, realizing that many smaller organizations do not have the resources or staff to develop and execute a planned giving program. She holds leadership positions at the Washington, D.C. Estate Planning Council and the National Capital Gift Planning Council (NCGPC). She frequently consults with individual organizations to help develop or shape their planned giving programs. Maya is also a prolific presenter and teacher on the topic, as a frequent presenter at conferences like Crescendo’s Practical Planned Giving Conference, CGP, Opera America, and also by developing and delivering numerous courses. She conceived and presented a 6-week course “PG 101” for NCGPC. Her recent presentation for the Chronicle of Philanthropy drew over 1,000 participants. Maya is a board member of multiple arts organizations, including the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, regional orchestra Paragon Philharmonia, and the European chamber music festival AlpenKammerMusik. An accomplished violinist herself, she performs with several orchestras.
